For me September was back to school time.  Times have changed.  My grandkids have been back to school since July and it seems like ALL students have returned to school in August.  Whichever month it occurs, the return to school ushers in a return to the basics -- new clothes, lunchboxes, pencils & paper (my other obsession besides essential oils).  This got me to thinking about the “basic” essential oils and which ones would be good have on hand all year round.  Here is my short list.

If you have these “5” essential oils in your possession you have a wonderful collection that can take care of most of your healthcare needs (mind, body & spirit).  This is a very basic list of their attributes.  They perform these actions and so, so, so much more.

Lavender:
Clears & calms the mind. Reduces stress & anxiety. (MIND)
Analgesic/Antispasmodic/Skin Nourishing. (BODY)
Meditation – brings inner peace. (SPIRIT)

Peppermint:
Refreshes, energies & uplifts the mind. (MIND)
Analgesic/Digestive/Decongestant. (BODY)
Meditation – keeps you present & awake. (SPIRIT)

Lemon:
Mental clarity & focus.  Positive thinking. (MIND)
Astringent/Detoxifier/Digestive. (BODY)
Invites in joy, awareness & calm. (SPIRIT)

Tea Tree:
Promotes confidence & the ability to change. (MIND)
Antibacterial/Antiviral/Expectorant. (BODY)
Awakens mindfulness & self-observation. (SPIRIT)

Eucalyptus Globulus:
Increases mental alertness & the ability to concentrate. (MIND)
Decongestant/Expectorant/Analgesic. (BODY)
Yoga/Meditation – helps you to be mindful of your breath. (SPIRIT)
