How to Stay Awake as You Greet 2019

I’m an early to bed, early to rise kind of person. When New Year’s Eve comes around, most of the time I wait until New Year’s Day to greet it with the sunrise. There are years when I am with family and friends who want to stay up and greet the new year at midnight. On those occasions I need a lot of intention and distraction to keep myself awake and even then, it’s no guarantee. Many times, someone is shaking me awake saying “Happy New Year!”.

Who is Driving Your Bus?

This has been the view from my office this week. I have to laugh because the message for me is not subtle! I often use the phrase “who is driving your bus?” when working with clients. It’s amazing how often the keys to our life are handed over to fear, anxiety, negative thoughts, or the inner 5-year-old. And then it’s like being on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. Talking to Walter

It has been a week of contrasts.  The pain and anger surrounding events in Virginia and Spain. Words that highlight how division is present.  And then on Monday the solar eclipse.  A phenomenon that brings all of humanity together.  As I witness this I see the differences between focusing on the big picture and focusing on the smaller picture.  I’m reminded how important the spiritual practice of tapping into bigness is.
