Peaceful Pastor Luncheon - "Having a Whole-Hearted Ministry"

"Having a Whole-Hearted Ministry"

You are invited to a special luncheon just for clergy to discuss and reflect upon ways to have a whole-hearted ministry, regardless of the circumstances. This is a time for YOU to be nurtured by great thoughts, nourishing food, inspiring stories and opportunities to bond with other clergy. Your hosts will be Amanda Petersen and Teresa Blythe, UCC ministers and spiritual directors who are passionate about finding ways for clergy to be spiritually supported through spiritual direction, supervision and community gatherings.

This gathering will feature:

  • The Rev Erika Von Haaren, Vicar at Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church, will share about the components of a whole-hearted life and ministry based on her experience and training in the Daring Way & Rising Strong research of Dr. Brené Brown.

  • You will also enjoy a special lunch prepared by Carmella Dodge of Savory Fare, a celebrated chef, educator and community advocate with a heart to connect people through food.

  • Introduction to ways Teresa and Amanda might support your ministry.

  • Time to chat and network with clergy across denominations.

February 28th, 12-2 p.m.
Space is limited to 10, so please register early to get your seat at the table!
Cost $45

Rev Erika Von Haaren

An ordained Episcopal priest for 10 years, Erika is also a wife, mother to three small children, and chief of staff for a large parish in Scottsdale. She has spent the last 5 years as a student of the work of Dr. Brené Brown on vulnerability, gratitude, shame resilience, and how to live more authentically and wholeheartedly which has changed her life and ministry in ways she couldn’t have foreseen. In her off-hours, she reads light fiction, makes Anglican rosaries, knits a little, sews poorly, and tries to keep up with the kids.

Teresa Blythe

Teresa has been working as a spiritual director with individuals, groups and organizations since 1997. She enjoys working with people from multi-faith (and no faith) backgrounds. Whether you are new to reflecting on your spiritual path or whether you are a religious or spiritual professional, Teresa will help you deepen in awareness of the holy and move in the direction you feel led by God to move. Also, we will use whatever language for the holy that you prefer.

Recent founder of the Phoenix Center for Spiritual Direction, Teresa has over 10 years of experience training spiritual directors in her work as Director of the Hesychia School of Spiritual Direction at the Redemptorist Renewal Center at Picture Rocks in Tucson. She is the author of the book 50 Ways to Pray, the blog Spiritual Direction 101 on Patheos, a frequent public speaker and a full-time advocate for the practice of spiritual direction.

Teresa received her Master of Divinity and Diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction from San Francisco Theological Seminary in 2000 and is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ (UCC).

Amanda Petersen

Amanda's passion is to create the space where each person can listen deeply the Wisdom Within. As life continually unfolds, it is so important to have others to walk along side us. Founder of Pathways of Grace, Amanda has experience as a pastor, hospice chaplain, spiritual director, life coach and artist.

With her group work and retreats, she emphasizes the gift of community; that in being present to one another, no matter what the similarities or differences might be, we are all connected. She is co-director of The Art of Deep Listening spiritual direction training and Supervision of Spiritual Directors training at Pathways of Grace. She has led many contemplative workshops and retreats and is adjunct faculty at the Hesychia School of Spiritual Direction.
