Meeting Your Inner Child Through Meditation

Meeting Your Inner Child Through Meditation

Sometimes you feel overwhelmed, perhaps overcome with anger or sadness, and you don't really know why. A lot of the time you can bet it's your inner five year old throwing a tantrum or feeling afraid! By the time we are eight years old, many of our emotional, psychological, and physical patterns are already deeply embedded in us, influenced by our parents and other adult figures in our lives. As we move through our teenage, adult, and later adult years, we continuously come up against those patterns we received when we were young.

Meeting your inner child and beginning a relationship with them is a powerful tool to help you move through emotional blocks, reprogram old patterns, and be free of overwhelming and hindering complexes.

In this hour long session, I will explain how guided meditation for insight works and will guide you through a visual meditation to meet with your inner child. You will have the opportunity to be in dialogue with your inner child, ask what they need from you, and learn how to parent yourself. After the meditation, there is time for integrating your experience through body work, art, journaling, and grounding.

Disclaimer: If you know you have childhood trauma that you are still learning to hold and work with, know that this meditation could be very helpful but it can also be re-traumatizing if you have not been working with the trauma for very long. Be discerning with your participation in this meditation. If you feel you need more one to one guided meditation facilitation, I am available for this as well.

Meeting Your Inner Child Through Meditation

Tarrin McDonald is a teacher, facilitator, dream tender, certified spiritual director, and desert wild woman.

She inquires deeply into her own wild and wonderous nature, confronting layer after layer of shadow to meet her Soul face to face. She is a woman drawn to the internal life who feels the pull of an unspoken unseen current, contemplates myth and story and mystery, and creates space for all forms of Self to manifest. Her passion is to create and hold space for women as they journey together from unconscious living to fully embodied Wise Wild Women, nurturing themselves and tending to Soul-work in the world.

In addition to journeying with women in one on one spiritual direction sessions, Tarrin can be found studying the work of Jungian Analysts, pursuing her MA and PhD in Depth Psychology, facilitating women’s moon gatherings, learning from the wise women in her life, and wandering the desert, marveling.

All of Tarrin's offerings can be found at her website:
